Little Miss Sunshine

Last night, we saw Little Miss Sunshine, with Steve Carrell and Greg Kinnear. Since I don’t get to see a lot of movies, it may not impress you much when I tell you that this is the best movie I’ve seen this year, but it definitely is. Maybe the best movie I’ve seen in a few years. While keeping you laughing all throughout the movie, some very poignant moments are woven into the story, and the notion of family, in all its dysfunctional glory is celebrated in a unique, authentic way. Greg Kinnear is always, always wonderful in anything he does, and Steve Carrell was given the chance to prove that he can be a lot more than just funny. The entire cast was excellent. Don’t be surprised if this film comes up a lot at the Oscars.

In other news, I am just wrapping up my first ever rental stay on another blog, The Opiate of the Masses. I’d like to thank Poppy for all of her warm hospitality this week… She has a great blog that everyone should check out. I’ve had a lot of fun hanging out in her sidebar!

Happy Friday!

    Hi Jennifer,

Thanks for the link, and the nice comment. But as a first-time renter, you might be a bit confused. You see, I’m supposed to be sending people your way.

Mind you, my hit counter and I are thrilled that you’re sending people my way, but as a good hostess, I feel that I should reciprocate. I think I’d better go over there and pimp your blog some more. It seems only fair.

Little Miss Sunshine was AWESOME. I loved it 🙂

Hi Jennifer – thanks for the movie review. We have gone to maybe 3 movies since we’ve had children – 6 years ago. If we don’t get to the theatre to see this one, I’ll get it from NetFlix.

Here from Poppy’s site. She paid me $3.49 to say that.

  4. Jennifer Says:

Lol! Thanks for stopping by everyone.

Vickee, Yes, it is deifintely worth catching, especially if you have kids. Lots of warm and fuzzy moments for parents.

Poppy, think of it as a guest book comment left behind after a pleasant stay at an Inn … just letting others know 🙂

Vickee–your check is in the mail.

    Jennifer–Mmmm, warm and fuzzy

I’m here via Poppy, too. She didn’t pay me to say that, but she did threaten me with some fairly specific bodily harm if I didn’t. And also, she is the boss of me.

I completely agree with your review, by the way! I loved this movie so much. Olive reminded me very much of my daughter (especially the part where she was running around like a maniac yelling, “I won! I won!”). I was really surprised that some of the running gags in the movie stayed funny throughout. It’s hard to carry something like that for 90 minutes or so without it getting tired.

I want to see it again!

  7. Jenny Says:

    Here via Poppy too.
Gonna see LMS asap; thanks for the scoop.

  8. Jennifer Says:

Thanks for stopping by 🙂 Poppy is the best landlord ever … I’m not even her renter anymore and I’m still getting new visitors from her!

Badger, the I won, I won part also reminded me of my daughter.

Jenny, I think you’ll be glad you saw it 🙂

  9. Agreed – I preached the praises of this flick last week. I’m glad to see that it’s drawing the best per-screen average of any film current at theaters. It deserves it.
